HDPT Technician
Job Description
The HDPT Technician performs maintenance and repairs to customer equipment to include driveshafts, hydraulic hoses and cylinders, etc. This position is responsible for ensuring shop cleanliness, safety, and excellence in the diagnostic and repair of customer equipment. This position requires a working knowledge of hydraulic and driveshaft theory, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Disassemble hydraulic cylinders, examining components (rods, pistons, seals, barrels, and glands) for wear, damage, or defects.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (Calipers, micrometers, etc.) to assess parts
- Replace worn or damaged seals, O-rings, packings, piston rods, and other internal parts
- Pressure test cylinders to identify leaks and ensure proper functionality
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and test results
- Measure, cut, and assemble hydraulic hoses according to customer specifications or work orders
- Identify appropriate fittings and couplings
- Perform quality checks on finished hoses to ensure they meet specifications and standards
- Operate hose cutting, crimping, and other equipment/machines used in the manufacturing process
- Maintain accurate inventory of all hydraulic, drivetrain, and retail inventory
- Measure, cut, and prepare driveshaft tubing to required specifications
- Weld yokes, flanges, and other components to the driveshaft tubing using MIG or TIG welding techniques while ensuring proper alignment and weld integrity
- Install universal joints, center bearings, and other components onto the driveshaft
- Assemble slip yokes and ensure proper functionality
- Operate balancing machine and ensure driveshafts are balanced to precise tolerances
- Operate lathes, milling machines, welding equipment, and other tools used in driveshaft manufacturing
- Greet customers with friendly and welcoming attitude
- Create service orders and invoices as necessary
- Process sales transactions and handle various payment methods (cash, credit cards, etc)
- Ensure shelve and displays are stocked as required
- Ensure store front is clean and organized
- Answer phone calls and assist with all customer inquiries
- Receive and inspect incoming stock
- Adhere to all safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Predictable and regular attendance is required
- Performs other site and position specific duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School Diploma – or the equivalent (for example, GED) less than a high school diploma
- Post-secondary certificate not required, but highly favorable
- Proficient in welding both steel and aluminum
- Thorough understanding of hydraulic systems and components
- Ability to work within timeframe of standard policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information
- Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Teams
- Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with our team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The work environment is a shared space office with multiple workstations.
